DESCRIPTION:Twilight Tuesday: Meet the Night Shift \nFuture Ancestors Learning Center at the Balch Springs Library \n  \nWhen the sun goes down\, a hidden world comes alive. \nJoin us for an evening of discovery as we explore the fascinating creatures that emerge after dark. Using special lights and observation equipment\, we’ll attract and observe moths\, beetles\, lacewings\, and other nighttime visitors while learning about their roles in local ecosystems. \nParticipants will also have the opportunity to explore community science through iNaturalist\, helping document local biodiversity while developing a deeper appreciation for the often-overlooked creatures that share our community. \nWhether you’re a seasoned naturalist or simply curious about what happens after sunset\, Twilight Tuesday offers a chance to slow down\, observe\, and reconnect with the living world around us. \nAll ages welcome. \nFree to attend.

DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, June 18\, 2026\nVeterans Park & Future Ancestors Learning Center\nFree and Open to the Public \nJoin Rooted Futures Collective at the Future Ancestors Learning Center during Balch Springs’ Juneteenth celebration for an interactive community experience exploring how people\, place\, and nature are connected. \nThroughout history\, strong communities have relied on shared knowledge\, stewardship\, creativity\, and cooperation. Rebuilding the Village invites visitors of all ages to rediscover those connections through hands-on activities\, nature exploration\, art\, community science\, and opportunities to imagine a healthier\, more resilient future for generations to come. \nExplore displays highlighting local ecosystems\, pollinators\, native plants\, Blackland Prairie heritage\, and citizen science. Create nature-inspired art\, contribute to a community vision board\, discover simple ways to support biodiversity at home\, and learn how small actions can help strengthen both ecological and community resilience. \nVisitors will also have the opportunity to learn about the Future Ancestors Learning Center\, an emerging outdoor learning and demonstration space at the Balch Springs Library dedicated to environmental education\, stewardship\, community science\, and helping people reconnect with the living world around them. \nWhether you’re interested in gardening\, wildlife\, conservation\, local history\, community-building\, or simply spending time with neighbors\, there will be opportunities to explore\, create\, learn\, and share ideas. \nAt its heart\, Rebuilding the Village is about remembering that healthy communities are built through relationships… with one another\, with the places we call home\, and with the generations who will inherit them. \nActivities may include: \n🌱 Community Vision Board: What Will You Grow? \n🎨 Nature-Inspired Rock Painting & Creative Activities \n🌳 Wooden Nature Craft Decorating \n 📱 Citizen Science & iNaturalist Exploration \n🌾 Blackland Prairie & Native Plant Discovery \n🦋 Pollinator & Biodiversity Exhibits \n📚 Future Ancestors Learning Center Vision Display \nCome help us imagine what we can grow together!
