Every organization reaches a point where an idea becomes something more.
For Rooted Futures Collective, that moment arrived this spring with two important milestones: official recognition of Rooted Futures Foundation as an IRS 501(c)(3) public charity and the award of a Latitude Fund Capacity Grant to help strengthen the organization’s long-term impact.
Together, these milestones represent more than organizational growth. They provide the foundation needed to expand environmental education, restoration, and community stewardship throughout North Texas.
The Latitude Fund Capacity Grant will support organizational development during this next stage, helping Rooted Futures Foundation build the systems, partnerships, and resources needed to serve the community more effectively. Combined with our new charitable status, this investment allows us to pursue new funding opportunities, develop lasting partnerships, and increase our capacity to deliver meaningful conservation programs.
These milestones come at an exciting time. From the Future Ancestors Learning Center and community education programs to the development of the Future Ancestors Ecological Resilience Network (FERN) through the Texas Water Action Collaborative, Rooted Futures is already working alongside libraries, volunteers, educators, nonprofits, and local partners to reconnect people with the natural systems that sustain healthy communities.
While much of conservation focuses on restoring landscapes, lasting change also requires building organizations capable of supporting that work for years to come. Establishing a strong nonprofit foundation allows us to invest not only in today’s projects, but in future opportunities that will benefit communities, wildlife, and ecosystems across North Texas.
